Ethiopian Night of Music, Dance and Cuisine was held on Nov. 6th 2011 at JICA Global Plaza.
Our opportunities of this year are charity for TOHOKU ( HIGASHI-NIPPON-DAISHINSAI) and celebration of 40th anniversary of the Ethiopia Association of Japan.
African ambassadors and many guests joined us, we had fantastic night together.

Opening Address by H.E. Ambassador Markos Tekle Rike
Before his opening address, H. E. Ambassador Markos pray silent for the victims of Great East Japan Earthquake with all guests and staffs.

H. E. Girma Woldegiorgis, President of F. D. R. of Ethiopia, given the letter of appreciation through H. E. Ambassador Markos to Dr. Umeda, President of the Ethiopia Association of Japan, on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the association.

Charity auction
Successful Bidder of Charity Auction granted his “Bare Feet Abebe”, a work by Mr. Tesfaye Galaye, to Mr. Ibrahim Jailan, Gold Medalist, hero of Ethiopian Athlete and Special Guest of this event.

Culture Exchange program "TOHOKU-DANCE & ETHIOPIAN DANCE"
A guest performers of this year were “MAYUZUMI-MINZOKU-BUYOUDAN”, Japanese traditional folk dance group.
They brought some folk tradition dances of TOHOKU region.
This splendid dance called “HANAGASA-ODORI” from YAMAGATA prefecture.

This auspicious dance was dancing with Japanese Traditional Folding Fans on the song titled “NANBU TAWARA-TSUMI UTA” it was handing down in pristine NANBU District for celebration of a rich harvest.

Mocha Ethiopia Dance Group tried "HANAGASA-ODORI" with Ethiopian dress and Guragegna choreograph.

Participants enjoyed Somali and Wolyta dances from Ethiopia by Mocha Ethiopia Dance Group.


Cerebration dance & song with Ethiopian and Mocha Ethiopia Dance Group(Japanese)
Wello dance from northern part of Ethiopia with a skit was showed.


Japanese song call “UEWO MUITE ARUKOU (SUKIYAKI)” was sung by Mr. Daniel Nigatu in Japanese words!

Final performance was Wedding Ceremony version of Guragegna dance from southwestern part of Ethiopia. Skid was performed too.


Free Dance Time

As in other years, Free Dance Time was warmed up and very exited!

H.E. Ambassadors from African countries also enjoyed dance together.

Children enjoyed too!

DJ Jhonny & Felix They selected nice Ethiopian songs for free dance.

Beautiful Ethiopian roses displayed the hall and sold for charity.


After the Free Dance, we closed this event by “SANBON-JIME” & “BANZAI-SANSYOU”. It was cheered by Mr. Shimada, Vice President of the Ethiopia Association and Mr. Tesfaye Gelaye of committee members.
